The Children’s Dyslexia Center of Southeastern Michigan, at Monroe and Garrison in the Scottish Rite Center in Dearborn, provides clinically proven dyslexia tutoring services. The CDC is the only organization offering two years of intensive one-on-one tutoring in the proven Orton-Gillingham approach, completely free of charge. They are open to all K-12 children regardless of economic status, race, religion or Masonic affiliation. Our CDC is one of 50 such centers in 13 northern states that provide tutoring from kindergarten through high school. Instructors are also trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach completely free of charge. Over the past 15 years, they have tutored 200 children, each child different from the other but sharing the common challenge of dyslexia. Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability. Dyslexia may be mild or profound. It may affect the ability to read, spell, and both written and verbal communication. Wide spread, dyslexia affects 15 to 20 percent of the population. Children tutored at CDC gain confidence as they learn the skills to read and communicate in writing. Their goal is to enable each child to read at or above grade level. They are supported through donations and fundraising. Check us out on Facebook or call us at 313-277-4970.
