Monday marked a day long awaited by Trenton officials and residents near the former Riverside Hospital as demolition work began, paving the way for continued progress at the site. Trenton City Administrator Jim Wagner said property owner Iqbal Nasir obtained final permits and the green light was given to tear down the complex’s boiler room and church house. “It’s a start,” Wagner said, but a long journey lies ahead before the property — vacant and problematic for more than a decade — will again play host to active businesses under a plan to bring medical professionals and a care facility to the site.
