Toddler struck by car, dies

LINCOLN PARK — Police continue investigating what appeared to be a tragic accident that took the life of a nearly 2-year-old boy.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call that a child had been struck by a moving vehicle about 7:15 p.m. July 20 in the 1500 block of Euclid. The child lay motionless in the road when officers arrived, and was immediately taken to Oakwood Southshore Medical Center along with his father. Soon after the child was pronounced dead from his injuries.

A statement released by Lincoln Park police said no further information was yet available.

“The details involved in the case will not be released until the investigation is complete,” according to the release. Wyandotte crash reconstruction officers were brought in to begin the investigation.

No one was in custody and potential charges remained uncertain. Reportedly the accident occurred in front of the child’s home, and the driver had been questioned and released.
