Yesh named All-American

Ray Yesh batted .400 this season and earned United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American Honorable Mention honors at Rochester College.

Ray Yesh, of Dearborn and a senior at Rochester College, received United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American Honorable Mention honors recently.

Yesh, a senior second baseman for Warriors, batted .400 and also was named Second Team All-League in the Association of Independent Institutions.

During his career, Yesh played second base, first base, designated hitter and some outfield, and helped the Warriors to the Small College World Series in 2011 and 2012. Rochester lost to Spalding University, from Louisville, Ky., in extra innings in the final game in 2012.

Yesh prepped at Allen Park St. Frances Cabrini, where he helped the Monarchs win a Catholic League title over Riverview Gabriel Richard at Comerica Park in 2008.

Next year, Yesh plans to work as an assistant coach with the Warriors and plans to graduate in the spring with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration.
