It is fortunate for all of the local men, women and youngsters who like to golf that quanity and quality are psrt of the golf course scene in the greater Downriver/Dearborn vicinity.

Golf is a sport that can be fun for all ages. One of the local facilities for duffers is the Taylor Meadows Golf Club, one of two courses owned by the city of Taylor.

The Meadows is at 25360 Ecorse Road, between Telegraph and Beech Daly. It is an 18-hole, well-manicured piece of landscape. Fairways are lush and green and that adds to the appeal of the Downriver golf course.

Adam Bailey is the assistant operations manager at the Meadows. He is a 24-year-old veteran who has spent the past nine years helping run the golf complex.

Bailey points out that seniors are prevalent at the course.

“We at the Meadows, have more than five morning leagues that run Monday through Wednesday,” Bailey said. “It helps make it a great place for seniors to play.”

A combination of the front and back 9’s is a 71-par total, with the majority of holes being par-4’s.

Other benefits to golfers are the fully stocked pro shop, practice putting green and plenty of carts available.

On the weekend of July 27 and 28, the Meadows and Lakes of Taylor courses will host the 23rd annual Taylor City Championships. The event is open to all players of all skill levels. A late registration deadline is July 21.
