ALLEN PARK – A man said he was robbed by a man whom he met in the Starbucks parking lot, 23005 Outer Drive, to sell a phone he had posted on Craigslist.

Police are looking for the man, described as black and about 19 years old, and three black women who were passengers in his 2002 Chevrolet Impala when he met with the alleged victim in the parking lot about 11 p.m. Jan. 26.

The man bought two cell phones for $200 each at a store in Taylor and posted them on the website to sell them in an attempt to make a profit. The man called him to inquire about one of the phones soon after and they agreed to meet in the parking lot.

During the transaction, the alleged victim said the man began acting suspicious and he asked for the phone back. When he asked a second time, the man pulled the phone away and lifted up his shirt to reveal the black handle of a handgun.

The vehicle then left at a high rate of speed, fleeing north on the Southfield Freeway.

The victim and his friend followed the vehicle and took down the license plate. A records check revealed no title information for the vehicle. They continued to follow the vehicle into Detroit for about an hour, but stopped and returned to the coffee shop in Allen Park to make a report.

No other information about the gun was available.
