ALLEN PARK – Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly robbed two men they met on Craigslist who had arranged to buy cell phones from them.

According to the report, about 7 p.m. Dec. 30, the men met in the parking lot of a coffee shop in the 23000 block of Outer Drive with the two suspects, with whom they had spoken on the phone about purchasing the phones, posted for sale on the website.

The suspects directed the victims into their car to discuss the sale, when one, described as a black man in his 20s and standing about 6 feet tall, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at one of the men, telling him, “Give me everything you got.”

The victims handed over about $700 and both suspects exited the vehicle and ran to a nearby gas station. The victims followed to attempt to write down their license plate information.

The man with the gun was described as wearing either a blue or gray hooded sweatshirt with an eagle on it — possibly an Eastern Michigan University logo — black pants and a black stocking cap. He was carrying a thin silver handgun.

The second suspect was described as a black man in his 20s about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, thin or medium build and wearing a black or gray hooded sweatshirt with a black stocking cap and possibly an Afro hairdo.

The victims provided slightly different descriptions of the suspects’ clothing.

A clerk at the gas station reported seeing two men who matched the suspect descriptions enter the gas station about 30 minutes before the victims entered the gas station to ask if he had seen anything. Officers are awaiting video surveillance footage.

Officers found two sets of fresh footprints in the snow near the coffee shop leading across Outer Drive, but distinct marks could not be recovered from them.

The victims provided the phone numbers by which the suspects had contacted them prior to the meeting.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Allen Park police department at 313-386-7800.
