DEARBORN — Students, faculty and staff from Henry Ford Community College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn will volunteer their time during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Jan. 21.
Volunteers will assist various local agencies with renovation, as well as educational and social projects.
The HFCC Office of Student Activities seeks volunteers to assist in this one-time, one-day outreach activity commemorating King’s philosophy and legacy.
The 2013 project agencies are: Arts & Scraps, Detroit Rescue Mission, Coalition of Temporary Shelter, Alternatives for Girls, Franklin Wright Settlements, Vista Maria, Kids Against Hunger, Care-A-Van, Michigan Urban Farming and Beyond Basics.
All participants will meet at UM-D, 4901 Evergreen, at 8 a.m. for registration, where they receive breakfast and a free T-shirt. At 8:45 a.m., they will depart for the various volunteer sites, then return to UM-D at 1 p.m. for lunch and a short reflection program.
