Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction has been shown effective in improving emotional and physical well being in individuals experiencing stress, chronic pain, anxiety, burnout and other disorders and in the development of attentional and emotional regulation skills. Mindfulness is defined as present-moment non-judgmental awareness. It is cultivated through mind-body awareness practices that include (secular) mindfulness-meditation practices and gentle yoga exercises. A new eight-week MBSR course will begin Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at University of Michigan-Dearborn, Wellness Center. Cost to attend is $300 which includes workbook and CD.
