DEARBORN — Dog and motorcycle enthusiasts alike can join forces for a fundraiser Thursday.

Hogs 4 Dogs is coming to town from 4 to 9 p.m. at Kiernan’s Steak House and Silky’s Martini & Music Cafe, 21931 Michigan Ave.

Participants either can ride on their motorized “hogs” or bring in their dogs to help the Friends for the Dearborn Animal Shelter raise funds.

Disc jockey Steve Miller will provide the musical entertainment with acoustic sounds by George Nigosian and other local musicians.

Tickets are $25, and include grilled burgers and hot dogs, corn, beverages, and all-you-can-drink draft beer, according to The Dearborn Animal Shelter press release.

The patio also will be open to dogs, who can attend at no charge.

Kiernan’s/Silky’s co-owner Dan Kiernan said the Hogs 4 Dogs fundraiser has grown and this year volunteers had to double the tent’s size because last year so many people attended. Kiernan said he attributes the event’s growth to the enjoyment people get from supporting local causes.

“We are a Dearborn merchant trying to support a good cause in Dearborn,” Kiernan said. “We are supporting our own.”

Kiernan said about 100 tickets are left and predicts they will go fast.

“A lot of people are going to be stopping in by the first part of next week,” Kiernan said. “We definitely expect to be sold out.”

Kiernan added that Biker Bob’s Harley-Davidson Motown in Taylor plans to provide a dynomometer, a piece of equipment used to test the strength of vehicle’s engine,.

“They will have a (real) Harley ride where people can get on there and ride the motorcycle without going anywhere,” Kiernan said. “We teamed up to make an interesting event.”

Tickets are available at Kiernan’s and Silky’s, or by calling 313-565-4260. They are also available at the Dearborn Animal Shelter, 2661 Greenfield Road, online at www.DearbornAnimals.org or by calling the shelter at 313-943-2697.
