Dave Bennett Trio to perform jazz Wednesday at Taylor Conservatory

TAYLOR – The jazz sounds of clarinetist Dave Bennett will return to the Summer Concert Series in the Gardens from 6 to 8 p.m. at Taylor Conservatory & Botanical Gardens 22314 Northline Road.

Admission is $5.

The downriver jazz venue heard Bennett perform with the Just Jazz Trio in June and immediately invited him back, this time with his own trio.

“Clarinetist Dave Bennett’s extraordinary recreation of the sound and artistry of Benny Goodman brings the swing era back to life in all it’s splendor,” said Michael Krajewski, Houston Symphony Principal Pops conductor.

The trio is the latest in a wide-ranging array of talent that has been performing at the concert series, which features a variety of live music, musicians and artwork.

Live jazz and blues will be performed from 6 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome and encouraged, but outside food and beverages are not allowed. There will be cash bar with food and beverage service starting at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served by Crystal Gardens.

The remaining lineup for summer 2012 is:

• Aug. 22 – The Sheila Landis Quartet

• Aug. 29 – Summer Concert Series Finale, featuring two-time Grammy Award winning drummer Jerry McKenzie’s Just Jazz Trio, with Ray Tini on bass, Terry Lower on keyboard, Dave Tatrow on trumpet and sax legend George Benson. (Tickets are $15 for a special three-hour engagement from 5-8 p.m. along with additional gourmet wines, beers, cheeses, and chocolates for purchase.)

In the event of rain, a concert would be moved indoors to the Taylor Lanes bowling center “Back Bar” at 24800 Eureka Road. A decision to move the concert would be made by 4 p.m. the day of the event. To confirm that a concert has been moved due to weather issues, call 888-383-4108.
