Spirit Fest celebrates with rides, entertainment

HEIGHTS — Entertainment and rides meet ethnic food at the 26th annual Spirit Festival Wednesday through Sunday at Canfield Community Center, 1801 N. Beech Daly Road.

Major attractions include ’80s cover band Square PEGZ at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Byron in Motion 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and Teen Angels at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Another festival feature includes Surfing USA! celebrating 50 years of the Beach Boys.

One of the festival attractions include the Mayor’s Walk at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Main Entertainment Tent. Registration starts at 6 p.m. and free festival T-shirts will go the the first 125 participants.

A special event, A Salute to Our Military Past & Present featuring The Ford Chorus, will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Advance ticket purchase is required for special events including several school programs such as the Riverside Middle School Chorus, Divine Child High School Chorus and Annapolis High School Jazz Band, among other acts.

A Taste of the Heights Food Fest Night will feature local food Thursday, followed by It’s ’80s Night Friday, Military Appreciation Day Saturday, and 26th Annual Family Day Sunday.
