Police begin online stolen property system

DEARBORN — The Police Department recently implemented a new online system to help assist in recovering stolen property.

Residents can keep account of their valuables through www.reportit.leadsonline.com, which stores information to help recover property in the event of a loss or theft, according to the Dearborn police press release.

“The LeadsOnline ReportIt system is an outstanding free resource for our residents which will allow them to be proactive and further protect their property,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in the release.

The system allows detectives to search for missing valuables using a variety of parameters, including item descriptions and serial numbers. If an item is sold to a pawn or secondhand shop, the item information is entered in the LeadsOnline database and is viewable by participating law enforcement agencies across the country.
