Chamber hosts wellness show

DEARBORN — In support of the American Heart Associations’ Go Red For Women Campaign, the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce and DMC Harper-Hutzel Hospital will host Love Yourself, Love Your Style, a fashion and wellness event, at 6 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel.

Admission is $25, includes a glass of wine, appetizers and cash bar. To register, go to www.dearbornchamber.org.

Attendees can learn how a steamy love life can impact and improve your heart health. Dr. Joel Kahn, cardiologist and system director, Health & Wellness for DMC, will give specifics on how sex can boost the immune system, burn calories, improve heart health, reduce pain and a host of other hot topics related to libido and health.

“We felt it was important to create the opportunity to educate women about health issues that impact us the most,” Chamber President Jennifer Giering said. “With women’s busy schedules, we wanted to offer a one-stop forum for healthy living, important networking opportunities and fashion.”

A reception featuring heart-healthy appetizers will be a part of this new event.

Other local businesses taking part are Sophia’s Giftique, a boutique that features bags, one-of-a-kind jewelry and custom-made cards and invitations. Hair Designs North will offer hair care tips and CID Design will provide custom-made jewelry.

Kahn will begin his remarks at 6 p.m. After the cocktail reception at 7 p.m., a runway-style fashion show will be hosted by Hoda Salameh, associate editor of StyleLine Magazine. The show will feature ways to upgrade style for spring. Looks from New York’s Carlisle and Per Se Collections will be featured.

Other sponsors include Health Alliance Plan, LaFontaine Automotive Group and StyleLine Magazine.
