DEARBORN – A 22-year-old Dearborn resident is dead and her sister is in critical condition following a two-car collision on Greenfield Road near Hubbard Drive at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 25.

Eitedal Al-Gaithi was attending her sister’s wedding reception at Greenfield Manor, 4770 Greenfield Road, when the 2009 Jeep they were in was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt as both vehicles were turning into the banquet hall’s parking lot. The Jeep’s driver lost control of the vehicle and struck 3 Nicks Sports Bar, ejecting Al-Gaithi and Alammare from the Jeep’s rear seat, killing Al-Gaithi instantly, police said.

Alammare, 21, remains in critical condition at press time at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center.

According to published reports, the victims’ brother, a 20-year-old Dearborn resident who was driving the Jeep, a 19-year-old Dearborn resident driving the Cobalt and two passengers were treated for minor injuries and released. Dearborn Police Sgt. Douglas Topolski said it’s not known at press time if the driver of the Cobalt will face any charges stemming from the collision.

Officers said witnesses saw a third vehicle, described as a Jeep or a Dodge Charger, the driver of which possibly made contact with the vehicles or saw the crash.
