The Dearborn Heights Chamber of Commerce recently honored two local high school students with the annual Ed Wisniewski Business Scholarship. Each student received a $500 renewable scholarship to further their education in pursuing a business-related curriculum.

The scholarships were awarded to Michelle Nguyen and Janat Al-Hachami, both students from Crestwood High School.

The chamber has established this scholarship in an effort to recognize the dedication to vocational service and the community shown by Wisniewski during his many years at Wisniewski State Farm Insurance. He was instrumental in reviving the chamber’s annual Jinny Darwish Golf outing, the chamber’s primary fundraiser.

Funds for this scholarship award came from the annual golf outing which was held at the Western Golf and Country Club on Sept. 27. Public support of these events directly benefits the community by enabling the chamber to offer such programs as the Ed Wisniewski Business Scholarship.
