HEIGHTS – A 9-year-old boy who was reported missing July 2 has been reunited with his mother.

It is unknown how long the boy was away from home before his mother called Dearborn police at 11:15 p.m. that day to report him missing.

According to police reports, the child told police that he ran away from home after getting in trouble with his mother earlier in the day. He went to a nearby McDonald’s restaurant, 6412 N. Telegraph. Employees there called police to alert them to the child at the restaurant.

They said the boy wasn’t sure how to spell his name and did not know his birthday.

The boy told police he lived on Buckingham in Dearborn, but when officers took him there, he did not know which house was his. Other area police departments were alerted, but the boy was not reported missing in those jurisdictions.

The mother said that she had been laying down because she wasn’t feeling well. When she woke up, her other two sons said that the boy was in his room. When she went to check after 11 p.m., he was gone.
