DEARBORN – The holiday spirit was nowhere to be found during the Christmas day robbery of a gas station.

A man walked into the BP station, 15500 Michigan Ave., about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 25 and announced that he was robbing the station. He then leapt over the counter and hit the clerk in the head with a pistol.

After the clerk followed a request to turn over the money in the cash register, the man fled the scene on foot westbound along the Michigan Avenue service drive.

The thief is described as a 40-year-old black man about 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build. During the robbery, he wore a brown hat, long tan overcoat, necktie and a blue vest and pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (313) 943-3012.
