Free outdoor summer concert series scheduled in west Dearborn

Variety of musical artists, groups to perform

DEARBORN — The West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority will host a free outdoor concert series Fridays beginning June 18 in Muirhead Plaza, adjacent to Bryant Library, 22100 Michigan Ave.

The series begins with the versatile Sun Messengers, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. June 18.

On July 2, concert goers will be entertained by the Beat Club, a Beatles tribute band, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This band looks and sounds like the lads from Liverpool.

The Brian Cleary Jazz Quartet will play from 7 to 8 p.m. July 16. This band is well known on the Detroit music scene, and combines jazz stylings with elegant traditional music.

Crush will entertain with sounds of classic rock from 6:30 to 9 p.m. July 30.

To complete the series, the versatile Carl Cafanga will perform from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 13. Cafanga is one of metropolitan Detroit’s most in-demand saxophonists. His quartet plays soulful, smooth jazz.

In case of rain, July concerts will be held inside Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Ave. There are no rain dates for the June 18 and Aug. 13 concerts.

Concert goers can take along chairs and blankets for the outdoor seating.
