Clean-Up Parades start this week

Dearborn school children participate in the annual Clean-Up Parades sponsored by the City Beautiful Commission. The 2010 parades begin May 4 and last until May 20.

Schools participate in a 55-year tradition
DEARBORN – The City Beautiful Commission has released its Clean-up Parade schedule for 2010. Parades started Tuesday.

Dearborn elementary schools have held Clean-Up Parades for 55 years.

The children of the city parade through the streets near their school to encourage and inspire their neighbors to clean up, fix up, plant up and paint up to keep the city beautiful.

The following schools will be hosting parades this year:

• May 4, 10:30 a.m. — Guardian Lutheran, 24544 Cherry Hill

• May 5, 10:00 a.m. — Henry Ford, 16140 Driscoll

• May 11, 10:30 a.m. — Sacred Heart & Emmanuel Lutheran, 22513 Garrison & 22425 Morley

• May 12, 10:30 a.m. — Dearborn Christian, 21360 Donaldson

• May 14, 1:30 p.m. — Maples, 6801 Mead

• May 17, 10:00 a.m. — William Ford, 14749 Alber

• May 19, 10:30 a.m. — MAYA, 19500 Ford Road

• May 19, 1:30 a.m. — McCollough-Unis, 7801 Maple

• May 20, 9:30 a.m. — Haigh, 601 Silvery Lane

• May 20, 1:30 p.m. — Oakman, 7545 Chase

Brief road closures will occur as the children are marching through the neighborhoods around their schools.
