Police blotter

Lincoln Park
Hello, I must be going
A woman living in the 500 block of Cleophus heard a noise at her side door about 10 a.m. last Sunday and went to see what it was.

A man described as 6 feet tall and white with a shaved head and in his early 20s had gotten inside, and she startled him. He said hello, police said, and quickly left and ran north through the back yard and jumped a privacy fence.

Officers were unable to locate the man, who was said to have been wearing a white T-shirt and a gray jacket.

Power tools removed from shed
An $800 snowblower and a $100 arc welder were discovered missing last week from a shed behind a house in the 13400 block of Fordline.

The owner said he last saw the items when he secured the shed Jan. 25. No other tools or equipment were missing.

House’s appliances purged
A washer-dryer stack and a furnace were found missing about 3 p.m. Jan. 30 from a house in the 11500 block of Willow.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry, but that a metal bar securing a locked garage door had been moved and the door operating device reconnected.

The washer-dryer unit was valued at $2,000, as was the furnace.

Store robbed of electronics, cash
Officers responded to an alarm early Jan. 27 at My Wireless Store, 25670 Eureka, but were too late to prevent an apparent theft.

They arrived to find a set of footprints in the snow leading away from the building toward Beech Daly, along with a set of tire tracks leading out of the driveway.

Employees said most of the stock room had been cleared out, including two boxes from a recent shipment containing about $3,000 worth of merchandise. A cash drawer containing $200 also was emptied.

Management still is compiling a list of the other missing merchandise.

Fence stops man after wine heist

Police were called to 7-Eleven, 2842 Grange, on word that a suspicious male had been walking behind the counter.

The 28-year-old Trenton man was described as white with long, curly hair and a black jacket and had walked south on Grange. They eventually found him staggering around the area near Grange and Marian Drive and stopped their patrol car.

The man ran and police pursued on foot chasing him up the driveway of a house in the 3200 block of Grange where a friend of his lives. The man, also described as highly intoxicated, then headed for the back yard, where he ran into a closed vinyl fence, damaging one of the hinges and two of the spindles.

Police subdued and arrested him. He was carrying a bottle of wine that they determined he allegedly had stolen from CVS/pharmacy, 3575 West, and was charged with larceny.
