ALLEN PARK – Hobbs + Black of Ann Arbor will provide architectural services for a gatehouse and supporting landscaping for the city’s redevelopment of the underutilized commercial area east of City Hall.

The project, for which $25,000 is budgeted for architectural services, has been spurred by the presence of Unity Studios and the Lifton Institute for Media Skills.

The programming phase was scheduled to begin Dec. 1; the anticipated completion date is July 31, 2010.

In addition to providing structural, electrical and engineering services, the architectural firm will coordinate services provided by the city and its consultants.

The firm also will help develop a detailed project program. It will review, analyze and incorporate the property, environmental and asbestos assessments; the existing facility and site surveys; and the utility studies and code and zoning analysis.

Hobbs + Black also will handle the schematic design and design development phases, as well as the construction documents. Additionally, it will assist the city with the competitive bid process, and will be responsible for overseeing the construction phase of the project.

The company will also provide post-construction services during the warranty period.
