DEARBORN — The investigation into the hit-and-run death of Dearborn Heights resident Gerald Bojanowski is progressing, but police won’t say much more than that.

Bojanowski, 56, was pulling his Harley-Davidson motorcycle into the driveway of the Fort Dearborn American Legion Post 364 on Telegraph Road when a sport utility vehicle struck him fatally from behind Sept. 12.

At the time police asked for public help identifying a suspect and provided witness accounts of the vehicle, a black 2005 Saturn VUE, and the suspect, a white male, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with short hair. Police said the vehicle had a license plate number of BWU 0523.

A police spokesman declined to comment last week on whether the license plate number had led to a suspect, saying only, “We are working with prosecutors, and I can’t say anything more than that.”
