Dearborn residents can dispose of many items not allowed in curbside trash during free Aug. 22 collection event at DPW Yard

No hazardous materials accepted

DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn residents who need to dispose of many items not accepted in curbside trash pickup can get rid of them for free during a special collection event happening at the Dearborn DPW Yard on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Please note that absolutely no hazardous materials will be accepted. Further note that only Dearborn residents are eligible to take part in this event. Proof of residency will be required.
Non-residents and/or contractors working in Dearborn cannot take part in the collection event.
The collection event takes place at the DPW Yard (2951 Greenfield, south of Rotunda) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 22.
Items that will be accepted are: furniture and other non-hazardous household materials from large move-outs; dirt, sod, sand, concrete and bricks; firewood, logs and stumps; bathtubs, laundry tubs, sinks and toilets.
NOT ACCEPTED – Hazardous materials are not acceptable for either curbside disposal or for disposal at the DPW Yard. A partial list of unacceptable materials are: fuel, tires, ammunition or refrigerators, microwaves or other appliances. Future dates for similar Dearborn DPW collection events are Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 21 and Dec. 26.

Wayne County residents who want to dispose of household hazardous wastes can participate in a special collection event being held by the Wayne County Department of Environment.
That event takes place on the same day – Aug. 22 – as Dearborn’s non-hazardous materials collection event but is not affiliated with Dearborn’s event.
The Wayne County collection event is for household hazardous materials only and is open to all Wayne County residents. The Dearborn collection event is open only to Dearborn residents and absolutely no hazardous materials will be accepted at it.
The Wayne County household hazardous materials collection event happens from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Westland Shopping Center (Warren Road and Nankin Boulevard, in the lot behind JC Penney).
Only household generated items from Wayne County residents will be accepted. Certain types of materials will not be accepted. For details on acceptable items, call 734.326.3936.
