Caught in the act

A 16-year-old Dearborn Heights boy was arrested for breaking into cars after an officer saw him acting suspiciously.
The officer saw the boy looking into cars at 3:30 a.m. July 16 at the BP gas station, 15700 Southfield, and decided to follow him.
While the officer observed him the boy looked into several cars at the Fire Bird gas station, 5248 Allen, and then entered a Volvo and a Ford LTD at the station.
The officer confronted the boy and he started to run. After the officer caught the boy they struggled before he was placed under arrest.

Window shattered

The rear driver’s-side window of a 1993 Oldsmobile was broken out sometime before 10 p.m. July 14 while it was parked in front of the owner’s house in the 10000 block of Allen Point.

Neighbors’ vehicles entered

Two vehicles were entered in the 6600 block of Balfour at about 12:30 a.m. July 15.
A pair of headphones were stolen from one of the vehicles and a roll of quarters was stolen from the neighbor’s vehicle.

Unsecured bike stolen

An unlocked turquoise bicycle was stolen sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. July 14 while it was parked on a porch in the 17000 block of Brinson.

Man drives with suspended license

A 36-year-old Wyandotte man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and for two outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrants after police stopped him for speeding on Pennsylvania near Fordline at 9:30 p.m. July 16.

Playground set ablaze

Playground equipment at Lions Park, 2598 Toledo Ave., was lit on fire sometime before 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The equipment’s large plastic slide unit was destroyed during the blaze.

Resident assaulted in yard

A 48-year-old resident of the 2500 block of Grange was assaulted in his back yard at 11:30 a.m. last Sunday by a man with a pit bull.
The resident saw the man standing with the dog near his fence while he was trying to persuade the resident’s dog to come to him.
The resident grabbed a table leg from inside his house to confront the man. After the initial confrontation the two men began to struggle on the ground. The man then hit the resident on the head with the table leg, knocking him unconscious for several seconds.
He described the man as about 45 years old, 6 feet 4 inches tall, with a slim build and mustache.

Cable box tampered with

A cable box belonging to a resident in the 300 block of Detroit was tampered with at about 7:40 p.m. last Sunday.
The resident said when she turned on the television, she did not get a reception and when she went outside to check on the box near the rear of the house she found parts had been taken from it.

Brick thrown at car

A concrete brick was thrown at car while it was parked in front of the owner’s house in the 200 block of Truax sometime between 5 p.m. July 14 and 6:30 a.m. July 15.
The brick caused several dents on the driver’s-side door and scratches on the driver’s-side window.

Water pump missing

A $500 water pump was stolen out of the bed of a 2001 Ford F-350 sometime between 3 p.m. July 17 and 11 a.m. July 19 while it was parked in the 300 block of Vinewood.

Bicycle taken

An unsecured, $1,000 BMX bicycle was stolen from a porch in the 2400 block of 10th sometime between 7 p.m. July 17 and 11 a.m. the next day.
