Basement under water, tools stolen in burglary

Roughly $800 in power tools and $400 in copper piping and fittings were stolen from a vacant house in the 7900 block of Pinehurst sometime between July 1 and 7.
A neighbor told police a heavyset black man driving an older black pickup truck was at the house twice over the course of the week, but she thought he was a contractor.
In addition to stealing the copper pipes, the man stole the main water shut-off valve, which left water dumping into the basement. Roughly a foot of standing water was present when the break-in was discovered.
